JICC JIEP Multipurpose Building is located in the middle of JIEP industrial complex. This building has transformed from one function to the other function every year. PT JIEP as the client commisioned Virama Karya to conduct a feasibility study regarding the development of this multipurpose building. Bagan joined the project as part of the architectural team whose tasks are to refurbish the building and propose new masterplan design for the JICC JIEP Multipurpose Building site.
Design Approach
- To study and understand the context of the industrial complex and the existing layout of the multipurpose building.
- To coordinate with other teams in that Feasibility Study project, namely the business and economy team, regarding the new function of the building in the future. On the other hand, we had to accommodate the client’s input as well.
- To research similar references fora multipurpose building that is located within an industrial area. Specifically the references of facade articulation.
Design Proceess
- From understanding the context of industial complex, we proposed a new masterplan design around the multipurpose building by adding new public space, jogging track, and open area for kiosks. In the future, the public space shall be new additional value to the multipurpose builing since it potentially be used as space for outdoor activity.
- We shall propose new interior layout in the multipurpose building to enhance its function as leaseable space. The partition shall be flexible to support the new function. New interior design will also be developen inside the building, applying the wamth ambiance by using wood as the materials.
- To minimize the renovation budget, the shape of structural facade on the exterior shall be left as it is, only to be maintained in the future. Brand new materials will cover the existing structural component.
