Bagan Desain has been commissioned by KAI to develop the area behind the station into supporting facilities for passengers, which will include an underground parking area and an open space/plaza for public activities.

Design Approach

The scope of work for Bagan Desain encompasses the following:

• Designing a Basement Carpark: Creating an efficient, functional underground parking area.
• Walkway and Shelter Design for Passengers: Developing pedestrian walkways and shelters to ensure passenger comfort and safety.
• Landscape/Hardscape Design: Designing the landscape and hardscape elements to enhance the aesthetic appeal and usability of the public space.

Design Proceess

The design process commenced with a comprehensive understanding of the existing andhistorical context of Gambir Station.

This foundation allowed us to establish the following elements: Site Planning and Space
Allocation:

• Allocating space for the primary facilities, including the car park area.
• Open Space Arrangement: Organizing the open space to enhance functionality and aesthetic appeal.
• Canopy Geometry: Design the canopy to resemble the current station design and maintain a consistent architectural language.

By grounding the design in the station’s historical and the existing context, we ensure that the new
developments are harmonious and cohesive, preserving the station’s heritage while meeting modern needs
